Are you tired of your desktop icons being rearranged every time you turn on your computer? It can be incredibly frustrating to have to constantly reorganize your desktop icons, especially if you have a lot of them. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to stop Windows from messing up your desktop icons. The first thing you should do is make sure that your computer has the most recent update. An older version of Windows can cause the icons on the desktop to be rearranged.

If this doesn't work, you can try using the Icon Shepherd icon (next to the system clock) to restore a previously saved arrangement of the icons and return them to their corresponding places. Another way to prevent Windows from rearranging your desktop icons is to save them to another folder, such as Documents, and create shortcuts to desktop documents. This way, when Windows recreates a new document from scratch, it won't search for a new position for the icon. Finally, keep in mind that, despite these methods, the Windows 10 start menu may still not show some desktop application icons.

If this is the case, you may need to manually add them back in.
